Privacy policy

We collect only what we need to reply to you and to manage your account. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.

What we collect

  • When you request an introduction: your name, your email address and any note you add.
  • As a client: what you tell us so we can advise you, such as your goals, finances, investment experience and comfort with risk, and the details in your advisory agreement.
  • When you have a client login: your name, email address and password. We store the password only in scrambled (hashed) form, so we can’t read it. Each time you sign in we record the time, your IP address and your browser, to keep your login secure.
  • When you connect your brokerage account: your brokerage username and password go to the brokerage through our connection service and aren’t stored. The brokerage gives us an access key, which we keep encrypted, and with it we read your accounts: their type and the last four digits of their numbers, balances, holdings, trades, deposits and withdrawals, dividends and interest, and monthly statements. We don’t store full account numbers.
  • When you visit the site: our hosting provider records standard technical details, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request. We also measure how quickly pages load, without cookies and without identifying you.

How we use it

  • To reply to your request and tell you about our services.
  • To manage your accounts, prepare your statements and calculate your fees.
  • To keep the site and your login secure and to prevent fraud.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including keeping required records.

We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell it.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only:

  • With companies that run parts of our service for us, such as hosting the site and its database, and only so they can do that work.
  • With your brokerage, as needed to connect to and manage your account.
  • With our lawyers, accountants and auditors, who must keep it confidential.
  • With regulators, courts or law enforcement when the law requires it, or to protect our clients, our firm or others from fraud or harm.
  • With a firm that takes over our business if it’s merged or transferred, which must protect it as this policy describes.
  • With anyone else you ask us to, such as your accountant.

We never share information about our clients with other companies for their own marketing.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in to your client login. We don’t use advertising cookies or third-party trackers, and we don’t follow you across other sites.

How we protect it

  • Information travels to and from the site over encrypted connections.
  • Brokerage access keys are encrypted with a key that only our connection service holds, so our database can store them but can’t use them.
  • Only people at our firm who need client information for their work can see it.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you’re a client or while we’re discussing your request, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep records or we need it to resolve a dispute. If you request an introduction and don’t become a client, you can ask us to delete your details.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you, or correct it.
  • Delete it. We will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Disconnect your brokerage account. We’ll remove the connection and stop reading your account.
  • Stop sending you anything other than messages about your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under state law, and we’ll honor them.

Children

This site is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use client information, we’ll tell clients before it takes effect.

Questions

To ask about your information or to make a request, and one of the partners will reply by email. If you’re a client, you can also write to the partner you work with.
